Olga Zawinsky

BIRTH: 06/25/1927

DEATH: 06/27/2017

Olga E. Zawinsky, 90, of Baden, Pa., died peacefully at Rochester Manor, two days after her 90th birthday. She was born on June 25, 1927, in Woodlawn (Aliquippa), Pa., and raised with her two brothers, Ted and Mike, and sister, Mary.

She married William Zawinsky, who preceded her in death in 1988, and lived in Baden most of her life. Her neighbors were like family to her, and she was fond of making the “best stuffed cabbage around” to share with them. Olga was thankful for such wonderful neighbors.

Olga and William raised a daughter, Andrea (Joseph) Lucic, and son, Mickey (Laura) Zawinsky. Olga “Baba” is also survived by grandchildren, Josh (Melissa), Amanda (Aaron), Timothy and Rebecca (Jimmy); three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Keaton and James, and a special niece, Bethanne (George) and their children.

A special thank you to the staff at Rochester Manor and St. Teresa’s Hospice for the care that was provided in Olga’s short time there, especially, Dr. Gehrlein, Jessica, Ricky, Wendy, Dawn and Bridgette.

Private arrangements are entrusted to GABAUER-MATTER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1133 Church St., Ambridge, gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com.

I'm saddened to hear of Olga's passing. As a child I would visit my grandparents Harry and Charlotte (Olga's neighbors) and I would always go knock on Olga's window to say hi and chat. She always had a smile and some wonderful Polish food ready when I came by. Rest in peace Olga.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time. Olga was a special lady and wonderful neighbor. She had an unforgettable laugh and smile. Her stuffed cabbages were the talk of the neighborhood. And I will never forget how she would answer a knock at her door by opening her window instead! So sad to see our old neighborhood change so much. She will be missed. I know that my Mom and Dad are happy to see her once again. May your grief be lessened through the love and memories you share. Hugs, Alisa
