Carol A. Podnar, 72, of Chippewa Twp., passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at her residence, surrounded by her family and her cat.
She was born in Beaver Falls on June 13, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Ann Thomas.
She was a 1962 graduate of Beaver Falls High School. She was a devoted CCD teacher at Christ the Divine Teacher Parish for over 35 years. This was the passion of her life and she always looked forward to her new students each fall, especially for First Communion classes.
She is survived by her two sons and their families, Robert Jr. and Laura, Austin, Texas, and Thomas and Shirley, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Cassie, Allison, Emily, Ryan, and Samantha; a sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Richard Taylor, and niece, Chelsea.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Robert Podnar.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 117 Blackhawk Road, Chippewa Twp., gabauerfamily funeralhomes.com, where prayers will be offered Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Parish, 116 Thorndale Drive, Chippewa Twp. Father John Naugle will officiate.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, New Brighton.
