Jill Dana Docchio

BIRTH: 03/16/1952

DEATH: 07/31/2018

Jill Dana Docchio of 3326 3rd avenue, Koppel PA passed away on Tuesday July 31st at 2:00 pm in Critical care at Heritage Valley Medical Center in Beaver County after a short but difficult battle with cancer.

Born March 16th, 1952 in Ellwood City PA, she is the first daughter of Joann and the late Kenneth Docchio of 4th avenue Koppel.

She is survived by her mother, life-long partner Richard Lawson, two younger sisters and brothers. Siblings Mary Ann Barberio of Fort Collins Colorado,  Jan Docchio of San Francisco,  Eugene “Skip” Docchio of sixth avenue Koppel, and Kenneth Docchio of Ellwood city. All were by her side through surgery and the struggle that followed.

Jill, a graduate of Lincoln High School Class of 1970, had over forty years of experience starting in Nursing School, and as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room and Short Stay at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle, PA before retiring in 2017. Jill lived her entire life in the same town, within a few hundred feet of the house she was born in. An Avid reader, she enjoyed traveling to see her sisters, and taking care of family members. She was primary caregiver for her mother who had just survived her own battle with breast cancer.  She will always be known for putting everyone else first, even in the most difficult situations. Jill was very crafty and made costumes for her nieces and nephews as children. Ever thoughtful, she never forgot a birthday, or failed to give gifts on holidays, even as the young ones grew up. A very proud and strong willed individual; leaned on her professional experience, and made all of her own decisions especially when they were of the greatest consequence.

For those who wish to extend their condolences, a gathering will be held in the GABAUER-MATTER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 3500 Third Ave., Koppel, www.gabauermatterfuneralhome.com, on Monday August 6th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Following that there will be a reception for friends and family at her brother’s house located at 5705 5th avenue, in Koppel. If interested, offerings should be made in the form of donations to charity, cancer research, or to the public library.
