Dorothy Cowan Myers, 89, of South Beaver Twp., died Monday, December 5, 2016, at Providence Care Center.
Born December 31, 1926, in Beaver Falls, she was the daughter of the late W. Herbert and Bernice Denny Cowan. Dorothy was a school teacher beginning her teaching career in a one room school house and ended at New Horizon School. She was a member of Pathway Church and a former volunteer for Camp Smiley.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, C. Eugene Myers; two daughters, Gene Ann (Terry) Dawson and Virginia (John) Bartholomay; two sisters, Bernice Jean Russell and Margaret Ann Mason; two grandchildren, Matthew (Kelly) and Juliann (Tobias); two great-grandchildren, Gwenn and Mickey, also several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwenn Mary Zialkowski; a grandson, Simon; two brothers, Robert and James Cowan, and three sisters, Thelma Musgrave, Phyllis Dan, and Virginia Sweitzer.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 117 Blackhawk Road, Chippewa Twp., www.gabauerluttonfuneralhome.com, where a service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Pastor Ed Walsh will officiate.
