James D. Myers, 83, of Darlington, died Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Heritage Valley Beaver.
Born February 24, 1934, in Imperial Pa, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Ann (Hertzer) Myers. James served in the US Army as a paratrooper, he liked to fish, hunt and camp. He loved to garden, and he loved his kids and grandkids.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Carol M. (Zeigler Large) Myers; two biological children, David and Carol; four step-children, Ronald (Linda) Large, Sharon (Gary) Croston, Susan (Ray) Chaffin, Donna (Ray) Herron; two brothers, Ronald and Harry Myers; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Richard Large; two brothers, Joseph and Edward Myers; and one sister, Dolores Myers.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8 pm in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 117 Blackhawk Road, Chippewa Twp., www. gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. The service will be officiated by his two grandsons.
Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. The Honor Guard will meet at the cemetery at 10:30am Friday to conduct full military honors.
