Frank Louis Greco, 95, of Daugherty Township, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018, at home with his wife, son and brother-in-law by his side.
Frank was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born March 1, 1923, in New Brighton, son of the late Louis and Rosina (Spizzirri) Greco. He grew up at the Beaver County Children’s Home, New Brighton, and graduated from Connelley Trade School in Pittsburgh.
Frank was a World War II veteran and served with the U.S Army Battalion 357 in Belgium, France, Germany and Holland. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He retired from the Labor Union 833 after 55 years of membership. He is member of the Holy Family Catholic Church of New Brighton. Frank enjoyed 20 years of service as a member of American Legion Post 19. He also served his community as a member of Daugherty Township VFD. He loved gardening, jigsaw puzzles, and polka dancing with his wife, especially at the SNPJ.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Luigina (Louise) (Filippelli) Greco; son, Joseph L. Greco, New Brighton; two daughters, Mary (Greco) Marano, Cape Coral, Fla., and Elena Greco, Fredericksburg, Va.; four grandchildren, Alessandra (Ross) Boeder, Eric Greco, Ian Greco and Allison Greco (Melisa Mitchell); one great-grandchild, Caylee Boeder; brother-in-law, Eugene Filippelli, New Brighton; sister-in-law, Antionette Greco; son-in-law, Tullio Marano; and several nieces, nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Maria; sister, Florence (Henry) Simoni; brother, Ralph (Eleanor) Greco; brother, Joseph R. Greco; half-brother, Louis (Betty) Miller; son-in-law, Terry Buffer; and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Greco.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the GABAUER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1133 Penn Ave., New Brighton, www.gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com, where prayers will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church.
