John “Jack” Cheriana Jr., age 69, of Baden, formerly of Ambridge, died on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at his residence.
Born November 14, 1949, in Pittsburgh, the son of Mary (Werner) Cheriana and the late John Joseph Cheriana Sr. John was a self-employed carpenter and a member of Saint Ferdinand Church in Cranberry Twp.
Jack is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Barbara “Barb” (Paugh) Cheriana of Baden; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles W. Durr Jr. and his wife, Rebecca of Sharon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Holly Nelson and her husband, Chris of Orchard Park, N.Y. and Melissa Cheriana-Slinde and her husband, Micah of Coraopolis. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Nicole, Zach, Joey, Marissa, Abby, Ryan, Maddy, Megan and Noah; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Deborah Walker and Mary Beth Holland and her husband, Robin; a brother-in-law, Stephen Toon; many nieces and nephews, and his long time canine companion, “Toby”.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Adrian Cheriana and a brother, David Cheriana.
Friends will be received on Friday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the GABAUER-MATTER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1133 Church St., Ambridge, gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com, where prayers will be offered on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Good Samaritan Church in Ambridge. Father Jack Batykefer will officiate. Interment will be private.
