George Nicholas Crain, Jr.

George Nicholas Crain, Jr.

BIRTH: 12/05/1953

DEATH: 06/06/2019

George N. Crain, Jr., of Ambridge, formerly of Murrysville, passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2019.

He was born December 5, 1953, in McKeesport, Pa. to Frances Monasky Crain and the late George N. Crain, Sr. of Pleasant Hills. His mother survives him.

George, a godly man, was the founder of Crain Ministries, a re-entry mentoring program to sex offenders. George, a licensed minister from Greater Works Outreach, helped released felons return to a normal life under the care and admonition of Christ, lessening the stigma of being a sex offender. Crain Ministries, under George’s helm, never had a man re-offend and return to prison. Crain Ministries will continue its important work in memory of George. Prior to that George was involved in nursing home ministry and hospice care after becoming a minister. George was a composer writing hundreds of songs for the church and he was especially fond of Psalmic Music. George and Debbie enjoyed traveling, date night on Fridays and working for the church.

George is survived by beloved wife, Debbie Novak Crain, of Ambridge. George was the father of four children with former wife, Laura Crain: Jonathan (Sara) of Coraopolis, Pa., Karina Kromsova (Alex) of Austin, Texas; Benjamin (Andrea) of Twenty Nine Palms, Calif. and Zachary (Nikki) of Saltsburg, Pa. George is Pap pap to Dylan, Eli, Dharma, Feyd and Serenity Crain, Theo and Max Kromsova. George leaves behind his brother, Timothy (Robin) Crain, Christine (Mark) McGuire, Carol (Bob) Sieger and seven nieces and nephews.

George looks forward to seeing his sister, Mary Kay (Harry) Swasey upon entering heaven.

Friends and family are welcomed at GABAUER-MATTER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1133 Church St., Ambridge, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019. Funeral services will take place at Ambridge Christian Missionary Alliance, 901 Merchant Street, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday June 11, 2019, with Pastor Brock Covington presiding.

Cremation will follow the funeral.

The family suggests that donations be made to Crain Ministries, P.O. Box 241, Ambridge, PA 15003 to assist in carrying on Reverend George’s work.
