W. Franklin Burgoyne

W. Franklin Burgoyne, 93, of Chippewa Twp., passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 at Beaver Meadows.

Born August 24, 1926, in Canton, OH, he was the son of the late Frank H. and Sryldia M. (McDaniel) Burgoyne. He worked the family farm until he was called up in the Army, World War II. He served in Japan. He married Dollie Hogg in November 1950. They shared 63 years of marriage. Frank went into banking and started at a small bank in Sebring, OH. He was then called by Mellon Bank in Aliquippa PA in 1953. He served in many branch offices and grew through the ranks from teller to assistant vice president. Frank was also known for playing the trombone. He played several engagements with his band called “The Blue Tones.” Frank was an avid golfer and was a member of the Beaver Valley Country Club where he got his first hole in one.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn “Dollie” Elizabeth Burgoyne; a brother, Charles L. Burgoyne and three sisters, Mary Shoup, A. Virginia Burgoyne and Anna Mae Gray. Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Dr. William F Burgoyne, Center Twp. and David D. and Judy Burgoyne, Center Twp.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia I. and David Holbein, Ohioville Boro and Valerie E. and David McGee Cuyahoga Falls, OH; eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Sunday from 5-7 p.m., in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 117 Blackhawk Road, Chippewa Twp., gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com, where a service will be held on Monday at 10 am with Rev. James E. Salyers officiating.

Interment will follow in Ellsworth Twp. Cemetery, Ellsworth, Ohio.

Family requests that contributions be made to Steffin Hill United Presbyterian Church, 2000 Darlington Rd., Beaver Falls, PA 15010.

The family would like to thank Eric Ehrenberg DO and staff of Trinity Family Practice for the wonderful medical and personal care given all these years. Also, thanks to Chippewa Applebee’s for their care and hospitality every Saturday night. Thanks also, to Beaver Meadows staff for their wonderful care and concern for the last 4 months.
