Merry G. Metz, 69, of Chippewa Township, died Monday, January 1, 2018, at Elmcroft of Chippewa Senior Living.

Born December 24, 1948, in San Jose, Calif., the daughter of the late Randolph Wayne Metz and Margaret Joy (Vincenz) Yohe. She was a 1972 graduate of the Arts from Mansfield University of PA. She was a prior resident of Alexandria, Pa., where she resided as a retired art teacher for Juniata Valley Elementary School. As an active member in Alexandria community: Historical Society, Hartslog, garden clubs, county and church choir, and promoting the arts.

She is survived by her brother, Robert Jay (Barbara) Metz; sisters, Jean Marie Hagerman, Patricia Wade, and Victoria King; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Christy Anne Metz.

Friends will be received Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 117 Blackhawk Road, Chippewa Twp., www.gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Ginger Hill, Pa.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 311 Shelton Ave., Alexandria, PA 16611 at a later date.

Merry, I will miss you a lot. You, Bonnie, and I taught together for many years and had some wonderful times together, especially our bus trip to Virginia! You will always be in my heart!
