Born February 7, 1927 in Enon Valley, she was the daughter of the late William K. and Hadassah E. (Allen) Foster. Marion graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1944, and participated in the inaugural class of a coordinated Wheaton College – West Suburban Hospital program to earn both her RN and BS degrees. Her nursing career spanned many decades, and included working for the Veterans’ Administration in both Durham, North Carolina and Bay Pines (St. Petersburg), Florida, for Dr. Nelson Kennedy in Darlington for over ten years, and then for the American Red Cross.
While employed by the Red Cross, she served in the Pittsburgh, Lebanon, PA, Massachusetts and Philadelphia offices before traveling to Stuttgart, Germany, where she served as the European Coordinator for five years. Throughout her Red Cross career, she participated in many assignments with Red Cross Disaster Relief, covering natural and man-made catastrophes throughout her local regions and nationally. These, along with her service in Europe, were some of her most treasured moments with Red Cross.
