Obituary

Alex W. Hoyle, 86, of North Sewickley Twp., passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2020 while under the care of West Penn Hospital. Alex’s family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the staff of West Penn Hospital for their compassionate care.

Born October 24, 1933, he was the son of the late Alex W. and Ruth (Hutchinson) Hoyle. He married his loving wife, Anna Mae (Ray) on January 14, 1961 and shared 59 years of memories together.   

He was drafted into the Army in 1956, at the age of 23, serving until 1963.  He achieved the status of Expert as a member of the Army National Rifle Team and was a Certified Rifle Marksmanship Instructor.

Alex was an employee at Westinghouse in Beaver, PA for 30 years.  While there, he was selected to participate in the Internal Suppliers of Parts Employee Group.

Alex was a member of the Koppel-Big Beaver Sportsmen’s Association, as well as a member of their competition rifle team. 

In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed classical music and taught himself how to play violin.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Hoyle; his children, Timothy Hoyle, Melanie (Frank) Carrozza, Mark (Darcy) Hoyle and Kerry (Judy) Hoyle; seven grandchildren, Vincent, Michael, Theresa, Philip, Lauren, Kaitlin, and Josh; six great-grandchildren, Maria, Michael, Camron, Cassius, Nicholas and Natalie; two sisters, Nancy Ray and Doris Marco; a sister-in-law, Glenda Hoyle; a brother-in-law Ted Lechok; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Walter, Jack; and by two sisters, Joanne and Kathleen.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 5pm-8pm in the Gabauer-Lutton Funeral Home- 117 Blackhawk Rd. Chippewa Twp., www.gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com where a blessing service will be held on Thursday at noon.  Fr. Kim Schreck will officiate.

There will be a rosary recited on Wednesday at 7pm in the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
