Barbara Ann Penson
Freedom

Barbara Ann Penson, 88, of Freedom, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017. 
She was born January 2, 1929, in New Brighton and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Glendel Johns Korn. Barbara had resided in Freedom for the past 62 years and had previously lived in Bridgewater. She had worked in the Freedom High School cafeteria and the former Hill Top Restaurant in Rochester. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bridgewater, where she had served as a Deacon for many years. She was an avid Pirates fan, crafter, floral arranger and enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets. 
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1980; brothers, William Korn and Arthur Korn, Jr., and two sisters, Marguerite Hendrickson and Jerry Walker. 
Surviving her are her sons, William (Patricia) Penson, Monaca; Robert Penson, Rochester, and Jon (Brenda) Penson, Freedom; daughters, Linda (Leonard) Roman, Livonia, Mich., and Wendy (David) Kolar, Baden; grandchildren, Tracy (Sean) Strickland, Jarod (Megan) Penson, David (Laura) Roman, Kristen (Brian) Beers, Leah, Erin and Ryan Penson, Jamie (Kerry) Kolar, Jodi (Ted) Kotula, Andrea (Geno) Canello, Lola, Christopher, Michael and Tatum Penson, and 22 great- grandchildren. 
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the TODD FUNERAL HOME, 340 Third St., Beaver. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Bridgewater, with Reverend James Equels officiating in Dr. Silver's absence. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Freedom. 
The family suggests friends may, if they wish, make memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church of Bridgewater, Bridge Street, Bridgewater, PA 15009 in Barbara's memory.
