Obituary

Beverly (Howard) Loll, 98, of Beaver, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 6, 2023 in Good Samaritan Hospice.

Born September 24, 1924 in Medina, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Adeline and Edgar Howard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles J. Loll on April 11, 2009; an infant son, Charles H.; and a daughter, Charliss.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James J. and Lisa Loll ; two grandchildren, Jhon and Diana; and a great grandson Leonardo.

Beverly was a proud graduate of Geneva College class of 1944, often reciting her alma maters’ fight song to her grandchildren. She continued into graduate studies at University of Pittsburgh focusing in biology. During these studies, Beverly contributed  to the research conducted at the Virus Research Laboratory headed by Dr. Jonas Salk to develop a viable vaccine for polio.

In 1946, Beverly met Charles J. Loll and the two quickly fell in love marring on October 23, 1946. While Charles earned his CPA credentials and licensure, Beverly taught science at Freedom High School and later Hopewell High School. Students of Beverly recall that she was a fair and generous teacher – spending time helping her students grasp the material.

Beverly throughout her life had a deep passion for education and was a prolific reader.  She often had a book in hand. Throughout her life Beverly was also involved in her community – she was a woman who valued the importance of bringing people together. She would often reach out to her neighbors and provided what help she could – be it a heartfelt conversation over tea or a shoulder to lean on. Beverly was also an avid camper; traveling throughout the country with her family. Although she was notoriously not a fan of cooking and cleaning.

Beverly will be remembered by her family, friends, and loved ones as the kind-hearted, compassionate and clever woman she was. Memories of her sharp wit along with her devotion to family will be shared by those who mourn her passing.

A private ceremony was held in honor of her final wishes.

  2. Sincere condolences to Beverly’s family. I knew her from working at Charles Loll’s office in Beaver in the 70’s. She was a lovely, caring woman. May her memory be eternal.
