Obituary

Carl Gussenhofen
Formerly of Bridgewater

Carl Gussenhofen, 87, passed away at the Heritage Valley Beaver hospital October 28, 2016 after residing at Cambridge Village Assisted Living in Chippewa for nearly a year.

The son of the late Herman and Margaret Temple Gussenhofen, he was a Bridgewater resident most of his life, having served for years as a council man and fireman. He was a member of the Bridgewater United Methodist Church where he was master of the flea markets for over 20 years . Carl was most proud, however, of his service as a US Marine during the Korean War, and has a brick in the Beaver memorial sidewalk. Carl worked for many years as meter reader and service man for Duquesne Light Company, and worked after hours unloading trucks and stocking freezers at Waites Ice Cream in Patterson Township – black cherry and butter pecan ice cream were his favorites. Upon retirement from Duquesne Light, he worked maintenance at the Carnegie Free Library of Beaver Falls. Carl enjoyed traveling with Betty in the states and took several overseas trips and cruises.

In addition to his parents, Carl was predeceased by brother Edwin.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, daughter Nancy (Robert) Dunn, son Marty Gussenhofen, granddaughter Marcy (Ira) Gerhart and son Drake Gussenhofen.
Cremation will be handled by Todd Funeral Home in Beaver, with interment in the National Cemetery in Washington County, Pa. No viewing or service is planned. A memorial will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgewater United Methodist Church, Market Street, Bridgewater, PA
