Obituary

Carol Ann Matthews, 82, of Independence Township, peacefully joined her husband and her heavenly father, Saturday September 6, 2025.

Born on July 5, 1943, in Rochester, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Ellen (Riley) Jones.

Carol was a member of Prince of Peace Church, Aliquippa.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  Carol was an excellent cook and enjoyed spending time working with the flowers in her yard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles Robert “Chuck” Matthews, on August 23, 2025; and a son-in-law, Tom Polster.

She is survived by her four daughters, Christine (Dan) McLaughlin, Suzanne (Dennis) Rich, Colleen (Mike) Matthews, and Michelle Polster; grandchildren, Brandon, Zackery, Madison (Chad), Thomas, Jonathan, Luc (Kristine), and Joshua; a great-granddaughter, Maci; her sister, Susan Jones; and a sister-in-law, Linda Matthews; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In accordance with Carol’s wishes, she will be cremated.

A joint Celebration of Carol and Chuck’s lives will be held at Prince of Peace Church at a later date.
