Obituary

Catherine Elaine (Butts) Slima, 60, of North Sewickley Township, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospice – Beaver. 

Born on April 16, 1961, in Washington DC, she was the daughter of Elaine (Powell) Butts and the late John L. “Jack” Butts.

Catherine spent the majority of her life as a retail manager for Macy’s, later joining the Wal-Mart Eye Care Center in Baden.  She attended St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Martinsburg, WV. Catherine was a member of the New Brighton Eagles Aerie 1342 in New Brighton, Pennsylvania.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 35 years, Clinton Scott Slima; her son, Jason Lanham; grandchildren, Ava and Nicholas Lanham; her siblings, Robby (Renita) Butts, Adam Butts, Cindy (Robert) Nicoletti, Vicky (Craig) Schoppert, Laura (Mark) Gordon, Christine Collins, Aubrey (Brian) Shipley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for the loving care she received from the staff. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 1000 Dutch Ridge Road, 4th floor Beaver PA 15009

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 225 S Queen St., Martinsburg, WV 25401 on Monday July 26, 2021 at 10:00am.

The GABAUER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1133 Penn Ave., New Brighton is honored to assist the Slima family during this time.

    My dear cousin…we had some great moments in our youth and some that made us cry together. You will forever be in my heart as you were a part of my journey in this life. The miles may have separated us but I always carried you in my heart. Fly high sweet angel.

  4. my best friend in high school she was funny happy amazing and a bit daring – wish I could of been in her life in the later years. She brought a lot of great memories to mind we had a blast – till we see each other again – Keep that star bright!!!!!
