Obituary

Charles Robert “Chuck” Matthews, 83, of Independence Township, died peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2025, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family.

Born on February 2, 1942, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Charles and Ethel (Black) Matthews.

Chuck had worked for many years in engineering at Industrial Resources in Carnegie.  He was a devoted family man and was very active in his church Prince of Peace in Aliquippa, PA.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carol (Jones) Matthews; four daughters, Christine (Dan) McLaughlin, Suzanne (Dennis) Rich , Colleen (Mike) Matthews, and Michelle  Polster ; grandchildren, Brandon, Zackery, Madison (Chad) , Thomas, Jonathan, Luc, and Joshua; One great Granddaughter, Maci; sister, Linda Matthews, sister in law Susan Jones; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois martin, Eleanor Harr and son in law Tom Polster.

Chuck’s wishes for cremation will be honored and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

The GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., Chippewa Twp., was honored to provide care and guidance to Chuck’s family during this time.
