Craig J. Begley

Vanport

Craig J. Begley, 90, of Vanport, passed away on January 27, 2021.

Born February 11, 1930, in New Brighton, a son of the late Henry and Margaret (Humes) Begley.

Craig was a Korean Veteran (Army) and a retiree from Laidlaw Wire, Monaca. He was a member of Van Buren Men’s Club and SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Beaver. Craig had a love for fishing at Pymatuning Lake, all things sports related, and would often be spotted enjoying various athletic competitions in which his grandchildren participated.

In addition to his parents, Craig was preceded in death by his beloved son Michael; two brothers, Henry, Jr. and George Begley; and six sisters: Juanita Franklin, Margaret Bell Wilson, Betty Schwartzel, Mabel “Dee” Wilson, Ruth Lindsay, and Mildred Goodman.

Surviving is his wife of 69 years, Margaret (Mutz) Begley, daughters Mary (Butch) Rousseau, and Amy (Chris) Neil, grandchildren Jessica and Michael Rousseau, and great-granddaughter Tayven Rousseau. Also surviving two brothers: Richard (Carol) Begley, and Jack (Jan) Begley. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.

We would like to thank the Cutlip family for their generosity of time, talents, and treasure; we have been blessed to have you as neighbors. We are also grateful for the many loving caregivers from VITAS: Chrysta, Heather, and particularly Bonnie who treated Craig with dignity and grace.

Per Craig’s wishes, there will be no visitation, service, nor formal burial. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family suggests random acts of kindness and generosity to others.

I was very sorry to hear of Craig’s passing. Iworked with him at the power plant many years ago. He was a good co-worker and a very good man. We actually shared the same birthday, so we would wish each other happy birthday on it. Joe Smith

  4. It was 1974 when we moved next to Marge and Craig. We had been married a year and were delighted to have them as our neighbors and role models. They took us under their wings and made us feel part of the neighborhood. Their kindness, compassion, generosity and love for each other made a big impact on us,and we count them as one of the many blessings we have received in our lives. Please accept our sympathy and know that we share in celebrating a life well lived.
