Obituary

Daniel Rai, age 61, passed away peacefully at his home in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, on June 26, 2026.

Born on April 17, 1965 (in Minneapolis, MN), Dan lived a life marked by curiosity, adventure, and a genuine appreciation for the people around him. He built a successful career in information technology as a Cloud Architect, where he was respected for his technical expertise, thoughtful approach to solving complex problems, and dedication to his work.

Outside of work, Dan embraced life with an adventurous spirit. He loved traveling across the United States, especially the memorable trips to visit his sister Kathy in San Francisco. Whether exploring a new destination, sharing a delicious meal with family and friends, or picking up his guitar, Dan found joy in experiences that brought people together.

Those who knew Dan will remember his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He had a thoughtful nature and a way of making conversations both interesting and enjoyable. His kindness, intelligence, and adventurous outlook left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Dan is lovingly remembered by his parents, Kenneth and Yuki Rai; his sister, Kathy Rai; and his brother, Jeff Rai. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched.

Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate Dan’s life during a virtual memorial service:

The online virtual service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, a date that coincides with Taiwanese Father’s Day (“Bābā Day”), honoring the Rai family’s Taiwanese heritage. The service will begin at 4:17 p.m. Pacific Time, a meaningful tribute to Dan’s April 17 birthday.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to End Slavery Now, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping end modern slavery and supporting people affected by human trafficking and exploitation, including girls who are victims of forced prostitution. The family hopes that gifts made in Dan’s memory will help bring freedom, dignity, and hope to those in need.

As we remember Dan, we celebrate a life filled with intelligence, humor, adventure, music, friendship, and love. Though his time with us was far too short, the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
