Obituary

David Charles Wesley “Oz” Ostrom, 77, of Daugherty Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, North Venice, FL.

Born on September 27, 1948, in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late Eugene and Ruth (Crowther) Ostrom.

Oz was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War as part of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment known as Blackhorse.  He worked alongside his brother for many years in landscape architecture and construction and was a member of nearly every social organization imaginable. He enjoyed Penn State Nittany Lions football, hunting, traveling and was a devoted friend to many.

He is survived by his brother, Robert “Bob” (Pam) Ostrom; nieces and nephews, Kristin Ostrom, Danny (Ashley) Ostrom, David (Michelle) Ostrom, Billy Ostrom, Maura MacQueen, Kari (Tony) Keane, Debbie (Ron) Atkinson, Dawn Reda, and Billy (Devona) Dettinger; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends including a special friend, Gary Hornyak.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings:  William Ostrom, Kathryn Ostrom, and Joyce (Fred) Dettinger.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a committal service with Military Honors at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel on Friday, May 15th at 11:30AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 862, 110 Hamilton Court, Baden, PA 15005.

    My buddy, Oz. We served together in Vietnam in 1969. We were in same squad and on same ACAV. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Rest in Peace.
