Obituary

David L. Podnar, 80, of South Beaver Township, died on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley – Beaver.

Born on February 10, 1943, in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Srmeg) Podnar.

David had retired from ARCO Chemical Corporation as a superintendent and was a parishioner of St. Monica Church of St. Augustine Parish.  In his free time, David enjoyed wine making, gardening, and woodworking.  David also enjoyed gatherings with neighbors.  Most of all, he cherished precious moments spent with his family.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Helen “Jean” Podnar on July 5, 2022; a daughter, Hope Marie Podnar; and a brother, Bob Podnar.

He is survived by his sons; Dave (Beth) Podnar and Dan (Debbie) Podnar; grandchildren, Charolotte (Mike) Hutter, Rachel (Kevin) Jewett, Joe Podnar, Kristin Podnar, and Ryan Podnar; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Piper, and Sam; a brother, Larry “Butch” (Diana) Podnar; a sister, Carol Podnar; a nephew, Brian (Rachel) Podnar; brother in-law Dave Lopez, numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and caregiver Shelly.

Friends will be received on Saturday, January 6^th from 10:30AM until time of departing prayers at 11:30AM at the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., Chippewa Twp., 117 Blackhawk Road, Beaver Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Monica Church of St. Augustine Parish following prayers at 12 Noon with Fr. Kim Schreck as celebrant.

Private interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, New Brighton.
