Denise E. Daugherty, 64, of Brighton Township passed away Tuesday February 5 in her home following an extended illness. She was born October 3, 1954 in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of the late George Francis and Betty Van Lewen Herbster. Denise had lived in the Beaver area since 1982 and previously lived in Mt. Lebanon. She had worked at Matthew’s Inc., Pittsburgh, had taught in the Beaver Area School District in Brighton Township and had been a member of the Brighton Township PTA. She is survived by her husband James A. Daugherty, sons William (Julie) Daugherty, Elmira, NY, and Timothy Daugherty, Youngstown, OH, a daughter Katherine Daugherty, Savannah, GA, a granddaughter Piper Daugherty and a brother George Herbster, Phoenix, AZ. Friends will be received Thursday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 in the Todd Funeral Home, 340 Third Street, Beaver where a Blessing Service will be celebrated Friday at 10 AM by Father Paul Kruppe of St. Celia Catholic Church, Rochester. Interment will be in South Side Cemetery, Pittsburgh.

    I am sorry that I will be unable to express my condolences in person.(I’ve been ill the last couple of days.)Denise was very involved in school activities during my tenure with Beaver Area Schools.I could always count onher support of our various initiatives.Her radiant smile would light up a room; her enthusiasm was contagious.She will be missed – an understatement. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

    When she was 6 years old her little brother bit her in thee rear. Añd when she was 9 she held his head because he ran into the swing with looking. Finally when she was 22 she went out with this engineer and ask me what I thought and I said he is the one…!;!!
