Beaver
Dietlind I. Winnell, 92, of Beaver passed away Sunday October 8 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born February 21, 1925 in the Free State of Danzig and was the daughter of the late Maria Magdalena Herrgeist. Dietlind had been a resident of Beaver County since 1952, was a German and History teacher at Moon Area School and later was an Adjunct Professor at Geneva College. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Beaver, the Ladies Auxiliary Engineers Society and a graduate of Geneva College and had attended the University of Greifswald. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband James A. Winnell in 1964. Surviving her are her daughters Kristina (Ken) Fields, Raccoon Township, Faye (Jim) Circle, New Brighton, grandchildren, Rebecca Fields (Justin) Quinn, Karoline Smith and her fiancée Chad Popa, Lee James (Sarah Napoe) Rutledge, Stephan (Tamara) Circle, Beth (Russ) Wilbur, Megan (Jimmy) Emmons, and Jim Circle, great-grandchildren, Kendal Smith, Cora Kristina, Connor, Dylan, and Addison Quinn, Preston and Sidney Napoe-Rutledge, Aiden and Jackson Circle, Nathan and Luke Emmons, Thomas Christian and Elizabeth Circle, a sister Ingrid Preuss, Germany. Friends and family are invited to a funeral service Wednesday at 1 PM in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Third Street, Beaver, officiated by Reverend Freda Snyder. Interment will follow in Beaver Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Third Street, Beaver. The Todd Funeral Home, 340 Third Street, Beaver is handling the arrangements.

I am so very, very sad and sorry to hear of Dietlind’s passing. She was such a kind and interesting lady. (and she made great devilled eggs!) It was pleasure and privilege to have known Dietlind, even just in passing as my neighbor. Bratwurst month at the Hot Dog Shoppe always reminds me of her. Please know that she and all of your family are in my prayers.
