Obituary

Donna Jean (Morgan) Alleman of Mechanicsburg, and formerly Beaver Falls, returned to her God on February 3, 2021.  Donna was born on January 17, 1936, the eldest daughter of the late Lytle M. and Roseabell E, (Fegley) Morgan.

A High Honors graduate of Freedom high school, class of 1954, Donna spent her early years under the watchful eyes of her doting parents in their family home on the top of 9th  Street Hill in Freedom.  At 19 years old, Donna was swept off her feet by a dashing young serviceman, Donald Alleman, who would become the love of her life. Don and Donna courted through handwritten love letters and began a lifelong adventure together in August of 1955.  That adventure would take Donna far from her sheltered childhood home, across multiple states from coast to coast and across the pond to Germany.

Donna was a proud and loving military wife and mother for 20 years, growing into a strong and capable woman that was the foundation of our well run and loving home.  She built lasting friendships throughout her travels that endured a lifetime and she will be missed by many far and wide.

It was in retirement from the military that Donna found her true calling in volunteerism.  She donated many hours to Beaver County Hospital and served as Treasurer of the Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary. She was a founding member of Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Church where she ran the kitchen for bingo night and was the cornerstone of the alto section in the church choir. She was an active supporter of her children’s extracurricular activities for over 20 years, capping her service as President of The Blackhawk Highschool’s 1988-89 Football Mothers. She was a formidable bridge and pinochle card player and a much sought-after partner for duplicate play.

Donna was a loving mother to three children, Lisa Joy Alleman Wargo, Lori Dawn Alleman Kreamer and Ryan Lewis Alleman to whom she taught the important lessons of personal accountability, perseverance and the value of higher education.  She was smart and resourceful and kept us all on the straight and narrow path.  There was no “pulling-one-over” on Mom, as many a neighbor kid could attest to, and she had little patience for excuses.  She was a terrific cook, a formidable homework monitor, a wonderful mother, and the keeper of our history. Donna is also fondly remembered by 2 son-in-laws, Steven Charles Wargo and Anthony Brian Kreamer, and a daughter-in-law, Lori Mae Sedar Alleman, who loved and admired her and knew her as “Mum”.

Donna was a cherished grandmother to eight grandchildren and their spouses; Lindsay (Wargo) and Brent Berdich, Zachary Wargo, Krista Wargo, Kayla Wargo, Adam and Allison (Bole) Kreamer, Liana Kreamer, Kyra Alleman and Bryce Alleman. She was a beloved great-grandmother to Calli Wargo and Isabelle Berdich.  They will forever remember Meem’s best-ever gravy, her welcoming lap and her beautiful voice singing childhood songs.

Her parents, loving husband, Donald Lewis Alleman, cherished sister, Joy Lynn (Morgan) Jewell and nephew, Todd Lytle Jewell preceded Donna in death.  She leaves behind a beloved brother-in-law, Paul Jewell, adored niece Christy (Dr. James) Jewell, and nephew Jonathan (Dr. Erica) Jewell, and many more loved nieces and nephews.

Donna was treasured and respected by many and will be dearly missed.  We are comforted in the knowledge that she has gone home to rest and be reunited with her loving husband, sister, parents and other loved ones.

Memorials in honor of Donna can go to Shriners Hospital for Children, Erie PA, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gabauer-Lutton Funeral Home-117 Blackhawk Rd., Chippewa twp.-www.gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no services at this time.  There will be a celebration of life for all of us who knew and loved her later in 2021 when it is safer to gather and share our many fond memories of a life well lived.

Dear Alleman family, It always seems shocking to me to see on of our “greats” from Christ the Divine pass to eternal life. I’m sure your Dad is thrilled to be with her again. I know the ushers are happy to have her running the kitchen and Gussie Facciolo and Louise Neidlinger are smiling as the “altos” are in full voice once again. Your folks were special and I thank you for sharing them with us all those years. Warmest prayers for strength for your family from Becky and me.

    Dear Ryan and Family,
I am deeply saddened to read of your Mom’s passing. I remember the day I first met her when you were in my third grade class at Chippewa Elementary, She made quite an impression on me and made me promise to keep you in line! She was most supportive of education and wanted only the best for you. You, in turn, made quite an impression on me in the classroom and were the inspiration for us naming our son Ryan!
I also remember her voice in our choir at church and sometimes doing solos and her voice was beautiful and will forever echo in my ears. My deepest sympathy to you and your family but know she is resting peacefully in the hands of her Lord that she served so faithfully. May she Rest In Peace and perpetual light shine upon her. 🌹💔

  3. Donna was truly an incredible woman. My wife and I knew her and her family through church. She was a tireless worker, always willing to help. I was also fortunate to work with her at The Medical Center while I was director of volunteer services. She was a pleasure to work with – always positive and sure to get the job done. She will be missed. May she rest in peace.
