Obituary

Douglas Earl Willis Sr.  of New Brighton passed away at the age of 67 on July 2nd, 2023.

Doug was born on April 6th 1956 to parents Betty (Hupp) Willis and David Willis.

Doug was a United States Marine Veteran where he served for two years.  Doug spent his years working as a professional painter and free time as an avid outdoorsman with camping, hunting, fishing, and playing recreational softball.  He was a devoted sports fanatic who always made time to watch college softball and cheer on his beloved Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with all of his close friends having drinks and just hanging out with the guys.  Doug was known for his fun-loving personality and witty humor.

Doug was predeceased by his mother Betty (Hupp) Willis, father David Willis, sister Connie Willis, and brothers David Willis, Brian Willis, Bruce Willis, and Rick Willis.

Doug is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, whom which he loved unconditionally, Pamela Willis, his loyal dog Ace, as well as 5 children and spouses: Nichole (Josh Hawk) Willis, Douglas Willis Jr., Lucas (Casie) Willis, Brandy (Merv) Mellinger, Zac (Stephanie) Willis.  8 Grandchildren: Alyssa Willis, Chloe Hawk, Connor Willis, Cru Willis, Jenna Willis, Paige Mellinger, Gage Willis, and Haley Willis. And 2 Great Grandchildren: Gage Morgan and Ivan Morgan.

Doug is also survived by 5 siblings and spouses.  Jack Willis, Loretta (Donald) McCreary, Charlotte (Daniel) Johnston, John Willis, and Randy (Jean) Willis.  As well as countless brother/sister in laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Per Doug’s wishes there will be no services to the public.

The GABAUER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., was honored to provide care and guidance to Doug’s family during this time.
