Obituary

Edward Paul Yhelka, known affectionately as Eddie, passed away on June 17, 2024, in Beaver Falls, PA, at the age of 75. Born on June 14, 1949, in PA, Eddie grew up in a loving family and later graduated in 1967 at Northwestern High School in Darlington, PA. He enlisted in the Army in 1967 and served in Vietnam. He later had a fulfilling career serving as a civilian at the 9-11 Airforce Reserve Base in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.

Eddie was a devoted husband to his wife, Gretchen Gene Barord, and shared his love for sports with her. Together, they rooted for the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins with their beloved dogs Vegas and Truman. He was also a caring, supportive, and funny uncle and most recently, was excited to become a great-uncle.

He attended The First Lutheran Church of Beaver Falls with Gretchen.  Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Gretchen, and his brothers, Andrew Robert Yhelka and David Yhelka and their families.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Yhelka Jr. and Irene M. Berezniak.

Eddie supported so many different causes and organizations, and to remember his vigor for helping others, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Eddie’s memory to The Parkinson’s Foundation at www.parkinson.org.  Details regarding a possible memorial are still to be determined.
