Edward J. Trn 82, of Big Beaver Boro, died Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Franciscan Manor in Patterson Township.

He was born March 11, 1941 in Beaver Falls, the son of the late John and Sylvia (Slovak) Trn.  He spent most of his life in the grocery business.  At the age of 21, Ed took over operation of the Mayfield Dairy in West Mayfield.  Subsequently, he built and ran his own store, Trn's Food Mart, in Big Beaver.  In later years, he worked for the Giant Eagle chain, primarily in Hopewell and Franklin Township.  As a young man, he was known for his love of fast cars, but he graduated to station wagons as he became a devoted father.  He was an inveterate tinkerer, loving all things mechanical, and enjoyed keeping things running long after their prime.  Ed was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Parish.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in 2017 by his beloved wife of 55 years, Donna (Sullivan) Trn.  Their love and humor made a house into a warm-hearted home.  He was also predeceased by three siblings:  John, Rosemary (Karczewski), and Robert.

Ed is survived by two sons, Edward J. (Teresa) Trn II and Larry R. (Lisa) Trn; a daughter, Diana L. (Scott) Mechling; five grandchildren, Amy, Michael, Adam, Matthew, and Madeline (Martin); and a great grandson, Camden.  He also leaves behind cherished siblings Barbara (William) Miller and Timothy (Kathy) Trn; In-laws Edna Funari, James (Lorainne) Sullivan, William (Pauline) Sullivan, and Amy Trn; as well as numerous well-loved nieces and nephews.

Per Ed's request there will be no public visitation.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial Saturday July 8, at 12:00 PM at St Monica Church, 116 Thorndale Drive, Beaver Falls, PA 15010.  Fr. John Naugle will officiate.

Private inurnment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery.
