Obituary

Eugene J. Mittica Sr., 90, of Beaver Falls, passed away Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016, surrounded by his loving family in Heritage Valley Beaver. Born January 21, 1926, in Beaver Falls, a son of the late James V. and Anna (D’Agostino) Mittica, he was a World War II Army veteran, a retired mechanic for Morrow Motors and worked at Kelly Hardware for his retirement job, and a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Beaver Falls, where he served as an usher. He was a member of New Brighton Sons of Italy and Beaver Falls Elks No. 348. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Boggs) Mittica, in 2004; five brothers, Dominic, Atter, Albert, Carmen Mittica and John Piccolo, and two sisters, Angeline Muoio and Genevive Rice. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene Mittica Jr. and wife Susan, Beaver Falls, and Thomas Mittica and wife Roxanne, Ellwood City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret “Doli” Weir and husband Tom, Emlenton, PA, and Anna Vastano and husband Stephen, Clementon, NJ; seven grandchildren, Paul, Cody and Christian Mittica, Scott Weir (Sheila), Julie Weir-Gott (Graham), Taylor Modro-Krause (Blaine), and Christopher Modro, and four great-grandchildren, Nolan Weir, Grady and Brock Gott, and Jesse Berg. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1117 Fifth Ave., Beaver Falls, www.gabauerluttonfuneralhome.com, where prayers will be offered Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Parish, New Brighton, with Father Tom Kredel as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Chippewa Twp.
