Obituary
Jane Sutphen, 91, of Ellwood City, Marion Township, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in the comfort of her daughter and son-in-law’s home, where she resided for many years.
Born on September 15, 1932, in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Frances (Lohman) Lipinski.
Jane’s most important and cherished role was mother to her three children, whom she loved dearly, and grandmother to her grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart. She held many offices in her local garden club, including president, and eventually became a national flower show judge. Jane’s favorite occupation in her professional life was working for some highly regarded fine jewelry establishments as a gemologist. After retiring, her favorite pastimes were watching television and solving various types of puzzles. She was an intelligent and engaging woman, who will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Suzanne (James) Sutphen. She is survived by her children; daughter, Kathleen (Jay) Griffin; sons, Robert (Beatrice Ghislandi) Sutphen, and James Sutphen, grandchildren; Carolyn (Nick) DeFalco, Anna (Adam) Gorecki, Megan (Jason) Boone, Julia Sutphen, Tyler Sutphen, Rachel (Kyle Duelge) Sutphen, Jake Sutphen, and Ryan (Allyson Stonis) Griffin; two great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Sophia; two dear friends, Sharon and Barbara; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends
In accordance with Jane’s wishes, she will be cremated and inurned with her parents at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Chicago. A private family memorial will follow.
Jane’s family wishes to extend a heart-felt “Thank You” to her caregiver, Joan, as well as the AHN Hospice Team, especially her nurse, Billie, and her aide, Kim.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or to the charity of your choice.
The GABAUER-TODD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES (Branch), 340 Third Street, Beaver, was honored to provide care and guidance to Jane’s family during this time.
