Obituary

Florence Franchino, 94, of Koppel, died Sunday, January 17, 2016, in Broadmore Senior Living at Lakemont Farms. Born December 21, 1921, in Koppel, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary Grace (Santillo) Franchino, she was a retired store room clerk for B&W. Florence led a full and wonderful life. She did not have children of her own but she loved everyone else’s as her own. She was a loving and devoted sister, aunt and friend. She was a generous individual. She grew an amazing garden and she canned and gave away her bounty to family, friends and neighbors. She raised chickens and gave their eggs to everyone. She was an amazing cook and baker. She baked cookies for all her family weddings and guarded the cookie table with her life. Florence also loved the game of chance and you could always find her on Wednesday night at the fire hall playing Bingo. She adored her feline friend, Snowball. Florence crocheted and knitted. I am sure all of her family and friends have an afghan that Florence created. She led an amazing life and her work ethic was beyond reproach and she expected the same from others. She was a dedicated member of her church, Queen of Heaven, and her faith sustained her throughout her life. Florence was one of a kind and will be greatly missed. There are not many people that you will meet in your life that have love and compassion toward all and Florence filled that mold. May she rest in peace and know that she was loved by many. Surviving are a brother, Joe Franchino, Chippewa Twp.; three sisters, Nilda Franchino, Koppel, Rose Cagnetti, Dayton, OH, and Jennie Van Kirk, Bridgeville, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the GABAUER-MATTER FUNERAL HOME, 3500 Third Ave., Koppel, www.gabauermatterfuneralhome.com, where prayers will be offered Friday at 9:20 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Parish. Entombment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
