Obituary

Gary Gilbert Van Winkle, 88, of Rochester, PA passed away on December 15, 2024 at Post Acute Medical (PAM) Center in Beaver, PA.  He was born in Abingdon, IL to the late Garrett Van Winkle and Evalyn Lamb. Gary attended Gonzaga College High School in Washington, DC and served with the DC Air National Guard.  Upon graduation from Gonzaga, Gary began a long and distinguished career in the computer technology industry.   He loved photography, fly-fishing, sports cars, and sports car racing.    

Gary is survived by his long-time companion, Rebecca Finch, his five sons, Gary, Stephen, Paul, Douglas, and Gregory, and daughter, Cynthia; eight grandchildren:  Elizabeth Van Winkle, Benjamin Van Winkle, Jennifer Rowe, Alexander Pitt, Laura Lyons, Charles Lyons, Thomas Van Winkle, and Joseph Van Winkle; six great-grandsons:  Colvin Rowe, Dylan Rowe, Tatum Rowe, Brayden Pitt, Bennett Pitt, and Bryson Pitt; two brothers, Joseph Kelly Van Winkle and James Van Winkle, and two sisters, Patricia Stachew and Jean Van Winkle; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by sister Rachel Lombardo-Van Winkle, first wife, Carolyn Watkins, and second wife, Charlotte (Shahan) Van Winkle.
