Obituary

Gerald E. "Jake" Stephens, formerly of Aliquippa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, with his family by his side in Fort Worth, TX.

Born on February 17, 1936, in Altoona, PA, he was the son of the late Paul and Katherine (Martin) Stephens.

Jake was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War as a machinist on the USS Putnam 757.  He worked for Mon River Towing before starting a career at Sun Oil Company as a truck driver, later as a lab technician.  After retirement, Jake was a bus driver for Hopewell School District, which he loved.  He was a past member of the Hopewell and Vanport Volunteer Fire Departments and loved riding motorcycles.  His favorite place was his camp at Conneaut Lake where he sat around the fire with a glass of Southern Comfort. He was a loving dad and grandfather that took care of everyone.

In addition to his parents, Jake was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Stephens; a daughter, Debra Cascio; a son, Keith Stephens; a brother, Christopher Stephens; and a sister, Patricia Barker.

He is survived by his daughter, Doreen (Randy) Palmer; grandchildren, Daniel Ward, Mandy Ward, Alisha (Brian) Haley, Taylor Palmer, Tanner Palmer, Christopher Stephens, and Delaney Dominiak; great-grandchildren, Brittany (Josh) Knox, Christian Reed, Colton Reed, Randi Haley, Adalynn Haley, Cole Haley, Taylor Krepps, Paige Ward, Patience Ward, and Avyanna Ward; a great-great grandchild, Tripp Knox; his sister, Nancy (John) Pernick; his daughter-in-law, Mary Stephens; a special friend, Patti Komack; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, February 27 th from 2PM-4PM & 6PM-8PM in the GABAUER-TODD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES (Branch), 340 Third Street, Beaver.

A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, February 28 th at 10AM.  Military honors will be accorded.

Private interment will be in Beaver Cemetery.
