Obituary

Gertrude A. Thomas, age 94, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2017, at Providence Care Center, Beaver Falls. She was a resident of Beaver Falls Plaza. She was born on December 26, 1922, in St. Clairsville, Ohio. After completing high school, she settled in Beaver Falls. She was a very industrious person working in numerous families in the area. In 1980 she was recognized as Beaver County’s first Senior Ms. hosted by the RSVP program and raised over $5000.00 for the organization. She was also a member of Wayman Chapel AME Church, New Brighton. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Thomas in 2015. Surviving is a son, Willis E. “Skip” Rawl Jr. of White Oak; two granddaughters, Cassandra Mahoney and Courtney Rawl of Pittsburgh; sisters-in-law, Janice Bacon and Brenda Harriel of Beaver Falls; two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, as well as her feline companion, Baby. Friends will be received Friday, May 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1117 Fifth Ave., Beaver Falls, gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com, where services will be held on Saturday, May 27, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Christina Dawn Reed officiating. The family would like to thank those who were a tremendous help during her difficult times, Mike Jones, Harold Cleckley and Fanny Farmer. Interment will be at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park
