Obituary
Helen Jane (Huffman) Farrow of Beaver, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 8, 2022 at the age of 91. Helen was born January 5, 1931 in Sharpsburg, PA and was the daughter of the late Ray and Olive (Elder) Huffman. A 1949 graduate of Evans City High School, she earned a nursing degree from the Community College of Beaver County in 1968. Helen worked as an LPN at Rochester Hospital and at the Medical Center of Beaver County and often spoke fondly of her career in the Maternity Department. After retiring from nursing, she worked for 13 years as a receptionist at Sherwood Oaks in Cranberry Township.
She attended First Presbyterian Church in Beaver, PA, and her faith was the foundation of her life. Helen rarely missed a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game and loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Michigan Wolverines games during football season. An avid reader, she amassed an impressive collection of books by her favorite authors, James Patterson and J.D. Robb. She enjoyed classic country music and bus tours to Lancaster and Nashville. She was a huge fan of Star Wars, Legos, and especially Star Wars Legos. Her Millennium Falcon Lego was proudly displayed in her home. She was a beloved fixture at “her” table at Starbucks in Beaver where she loved breaking out her phone to share photos of her great-grandchildren, her latest Lego projects, and her grand-pup Luna to anyone who wandered in. She was a strong, feisty, independent woman who had a fantastic sense of humor, fiercely loved her family, and made friends wherever she went.
Helen is survived by her brother Carl Huffman and wife Jean of Williamsport, PA, her daughter Diane Kinzler Martin and husband Jack of West Palm Beach, FL, her son Ray Farrow and wife Kristi of Beaver Falls, PA, stepdaughter Karen Romian of Sharpsville, PA, her grandchildren Ashlee Mason and husband Kevin, Robert Martin and wife Elizabeth, Brandyn Farrow and wife Olga, Jordan Farrow and wife Stephanie, Amanda Masotto, Cory Kendrew, Sue Kilgore and husband Dale, WrayLynn George and husband Bill, Raymond George, Eileen George, her many beautiful great-grandchildren, and countless dear friends, including David and Jacqueline Noll and their son Julian, who Helen unofficially adopted and loved so much.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Gale L. Farrow, her son Thomas W. Kinzler, and stepdaughter Helen Diane George.
Our family will be forever grateful to the amazing nurses and staff of Rochester Manor and Gateway Hospice, who provided such compassionate and loving end of life care and support. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to David Noll and Mary Grace Brooks for their boundless love and kindness, and to Carol Morris for being a wonderful friend and roommate.
