Obituary

James Henry Roberts Jr., 78, of Hopewell Township, was called home to God peacefully with his loving family at his side on Sunday, October 17, 2021, in Heritage Valley Sewickley.

Born December 6, 1942, in Pittsburgh, PA, James was the only son of late James Sr. and Margaret L. (Dykes) Roberts. James married his wife at 20 years old and adored her for a beautiful 53 years. Together, they grew old making memories with their two children and many friends spending countless camping trips at the Flying Finn. James enjoyed spending his time woodworking as he created wooden wishing wells, holiday and home decorations for all. James was known to be very social.  In any restaurant, store, or waiting room, he never failed to find a stranger to talk to. He was an enthusiast of old cars especially his '64 Ford Fairlane. James was an active member of the Prince of Peace church.  He was a hard-working man who provided for his family by working at J&L Steel for over 20 years.

James is survived by his wife, Virginia L. (Riffle) Roberts; son, James (Christine) Roberts III, son-in-law Gerald (Jo) Rooney III, and grandchildren who brought endless joy, Elizabeth Rooney, Gerald Rooney IV, Brooke Malloy, and Emma Roberts.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret L. Rooney, and Aunt Betty Dykes.

A memorial service for James will be held Friday, October 29, 2021, at 11 am at the Prince of Peace Church, 1314 Gringo Road, Aliquippa, PA 15001.  Arrangements were entrusted to the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC.- 117 Blackhawk Road, Chippewa Township, www.gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
