Jayne Lynn
Schmitt
Jan 30, 1957 — Dec 1, 2022
Jayne Lynn Schmitt, 65, of Brighton Twp., passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospice – Heritage Valley, Beaver.
Born on January, 30, 1957, in Wheeling, WV, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Mary Mildred (Stegman) Hores.
Jayne was an example of true faith and optimism. She was a devoted member of St. Monica's Church, volunteering as a Eucharistic minister and serving in the healthcare ministry and St. Vincent de Paul Society. She also chaired the Lenten fish fry where she ran a tight ship but still made it a fun time for everyone. She participated in the Love Your Neighbor Project, funeral ministry, and vacation Bible School.
Jayne loved unconditionally and showed her family how to do the same. Her legendary sayings include "We'll cross that bridge when we get to it" and "A for effort." She loved doing puzzles and crafts and coloring with her grandchildren, putting doggie ears or piggy tails in her granddaughters' hair, and being everyone's biggest fan at sporting events. She enjoyed golfing with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Some of her best times with her family were spent vacationing at the beach, including card games and bingo at night. She is known for scrapbooking, planning scavenger and Easter egg hunts, professional gift-wrapping, perfect penmanship, and always being the one to get soaked on the Raging Rapids.
In addition to her parents, Jayne was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Robert "Bob" Hores and a sister, Andrea Esposito. She is survived by her sister Patti Dei.
Jayne is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Pete Schmitt, her children, Joseph (Christi Kolarcik) Schmitt, Stefanie (Ben) Lawson, and Zachary (Danica Van Volkenburg) Schmitt; grandchildren, Jared Daniel Kolarcik-Schmitt, Reanna Marie Kolarcik-Schmitt, Layla Jayne Kolarcik-Schmitt, Jack David Lawson, Barrett Alan Kolarcik-Schmitt, Kaylee Elizabeth Lawson and Emmett Joseph Kolarcik-Schmitt; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, December 5 from 2-4PM & 6-8PM in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., Chippewa Twp., 117 Blackhawk Road, Beaver Falls where prayers will be offered on Tuesday, December 6 at 11:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12PM at St. Monica Roman Catholic Church, 116 Thorndale Rd. with Fr.
