Obituary

J.D. Klein, 85, of Patterson Heights, died Monday, January 11, 2016 in the Windsor House of St. Mary’s, Columbiana OH.Born March 1, 1930, he was the son of the late John and Edna (Cain) Klein. He was a lifelong member of Riverview United Methodist Church. J.D. was very active in the Patterson Heights community, serving as their Mayor for over 10 years. Along with being a draftsman, J.D. was a Renaissance man. He was an athlete, artist, gardener, veteran, and bible school teacher. He loved people and had an impact on all who knew him. Most importantly, he was a devoted family man and husband.He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeanette E. (Smith) Klein; his children, Jimmy Klein, Orlando, FL, Kathy Merritt, Aliquippa, John (Mindy) Klein, Industry and Connie Klein, Patterson Heights; a brother, Gary (Sue) Klein, Gouldsboro, PA; a sister, Rachel Sterrett, Deltona, FL; and five grandchildren, Charles Merritt, Justin, Sarah, Maren, and Kendra Klein.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted and Paul Klein; two sisters, Amanda McPheeters and Elva Veiock; and a brother-in-law, Dean Sterrett.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 12pm in the Riverview United Methodist Church, 1099 Darlington Rd. Beaver Falls, PA 15010.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in J.D.’s name to Riverview United Methodist Church or Alzheimer’s Association- Pittsburgh Office 1100 Liberty Avenue Suite E-201 Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
