John F. Cole, 100, of Chippewa Twp., passed away Friday, February 10, 2023 in Concordia-Villa St. Joseph.
Born April 13, 1922 in Ottumwa, Iowa, he was the son of the late Basil and Lorraine (Beckman) Cole. A veteran of the US Army where he served in World War II, John was employed as an engineer at Bell Telephone Company, and was a member of the Bell System Telephone Pioneers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Hammer) Cole; his son, John Michael Cole; a daughter, Patricia Ann Willox; and 8 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by a daughter, Suzanne (Jerry) Davis; 3 grandchildren, Jackie Dewhirst, Jennifer (John) Warick and Robert (Heidi) West; 7 great-grandchildren, Jack and Max Dewhirst, John, Joe and Theo Warick, Emma and Ashton West; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 9am until the time of military honors at 9:20am in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 117 Blackhawk Rd., Chippewa Twp. Prayers will be offered at the funeral home at 9:30am, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10am at St. Augustine Catholic Church, St. Monica Parish.
Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in John’s name to St. Monica’s Catholic Academy- 609 Tenth St., Beaver Falls PA 15010.
