Obituary

John F. (Johnny) Kolter

“The Master Quoter”

May 29, 1966 – Nov 15, 2025

“We are all somebody, even if we think we are nobody, so be happy just who you are cause we can all make a difference in the world”.   A life long resident of New Brighton, graduating NBHS in 1984, Johnny was a humble, generous soul, someone who lived by his quotes.  If you ever heard him call out a warm “Hi” while walking through New Brighton or were blessed to share a quiet moment talking with him, you know how much his presence brightened your day.  His kindness was quiet but powerful, touching so many lives…he will deeply be missed.

Safely home with those who went before him, our dad John, mom Mary and brother Jimmy, he is now reunited with them in eternal peace.

On earth he leaves behind his greatest joys, his son Michael and beautiful granddaughter Mackenzi.  His siblings Renessa, David, Tommy and Steph are comforted knowing that his body has been glorified and he is finally free from the pain and suffering of this earthly life.  His spirit is now at peace forever in the presence of God.  May God and the angels give you everything you need to finish your model train set, crafting that western landscape, just as you imagined it. We hope you enjoy every detail in heaven, where your hands are free, your heart is at peace and your creativity knows no limits.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude to Janice, for all of her devotion, support  and kindness over the years, to all the doctors and nurses at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for the compassionate care they provided and to Gabauer-Lutton Funeral Home for their guidance and sympathy during this difficult time.  In accordance with the family’s wishes, burial at Sylvania Hills Cemetery will be private.

In loving memory of Johnny, say “Hi” to someone today.  Even the smallest kindness can make a difference for both of you.
