Obituary

Joyce Theo (Ostrom) Dettinger, 85, of Beaver Falls, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on November, 19, 1936 in Beaver Falls, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Ruth (Crowther) Ostrom.

Joyce was a 1954 graduate of Beaver Falls High School and had worked as a Kitchen Aide at McGuire Memorial and a faithful member of Concord United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 67 years, Fred Dettinger; her children, William (Devona) Dettinger, Dawn (Jack) Reda, and Debbie (Ronald) Atkinson; grandchildren, Lori Reda, Brant Dettinger, Jamie (Mike) DeMarco, Jon (Cara) Atkinson, and Dane Dettinger; great-grandchildren, Elli and Mikey DeMarco, and Jace and Cooper Atkinson; her brothers, David and Robert (Pam) Ostrom; a special friend, Janet Patrick; special neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Sinclair; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, William Ostrom; and a sister, Kay Ostrom.

In accordance with her wishes, Joyce will be cremated and private inurnment will take place in Laurel Cemetery.

    I remember Joyce with that same smile as in the pic. Sometimes she would include a little giggle with it as well. She also had a feisty side when irritated just like the rest of us! May you all feel Gods love and know hes with you as you grieve. We love you and were keeping you in our prayers.

  2. Joyce and Fred have been great neighbors. Her memory will live on in all the special items in the doll house that Fred so lovingly built and Joyce furnished. Our five year old granddaughter is having such a great time with it and all the accessories chosen by Joyce. Our sincere condolences go out to Fred and the family.
