Obituary

Karrie (Pletz) Hockenberry passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends on Sunday, April 30, 2017, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa., at the age of 43. Karrie was born on May 25, 1973, in Pittsburgh, Pa. She is survived by her loving husband, Eric, and son, Aeron, both reside in Darlington; her mother, Margaret “Peggy” Pletz of Big Beaver; sister, ShaneRae Florie Wentzel of Chippewa Twp., Pa.; along with many loving friends and family. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard “Rick” Pletz; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Karrie graduated from Big Beaver Falls High School in 1991 and went to Pittsburgh Beauty Academy to obtain her degree in cosmetology and worked many years as a stylist at Shears Excellence Salon. She married her high school sweetheart, Eric, on August 19, 1995. Karrie gave birth to her only child, Aeron Richard Hockenberry, on February 14, 1996. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 11 a.m., followed by a memorial visitation until 2 p.m. at GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 117 Blackhawk Road, Chippewa Twp., gabauerfamily funeralhomes.com.
