Obituary

Keith W. Briscoe, of Chippewa Township, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle.
Keith is survived by his wife, Julie, with whom he built a beautiful life rooted in love and devotion; his daughters, Isabella and Lillianna, who will forever miss him; his son-in-law, Clay; and his beloved dogs, Stewart and Stella, who were his constant companions and greatest joy, as well as Daisy, Hershel, and Winston, who held a special place in his heart.
It would be easy to focus on his many professional accomplishments in journalism and management. But the way he changed the lives of those who worked for and with him was what meant the most to him and what continues to be remembered. Deeply rooted in nature, he found peace outdoors and believed every animal was sacred, offering kindness to each one that crossed his path. Even a spider was met with care. He cherished the simple rhythms of life—gardening, running, and working outside—finding meaning in honest work and quiet moments.
He moved through the world without judgment, choosing to see the good in others and meet life with patience and grace. He had a rare gift for making the ordinary beautiful, and his humor never left him, even in his most difficult days. He never missed an opportunity to express how proud he was of his children, encouraging them in all they pursued with complete and undeniable love, while fiercely instilling confidence and empathy.
While his passing came far too soon, he showed remarkable compassion and love until the very end. He chose to spend his time not in anger or asking why, but in comforting each member of his family and sharing words that will be remembered forever. On his last day, he shared the words he had always lived by and never missed a chance to tell his family: “Live your life, and go have fun!”
True to who he was, he never sought the spotlight and preferred a life lived humbly and with intention.
In keeping with his wishes, services will be private and held within the family. His legacy lives on in the beauty he created, the goodness he saw in others, and the enduring love he leaves behind. The family would like to acknowledge the many friends, both near and far, who supported him during this time. He was deeply thankful for the messages and expressions of care he received. The family also extends their sincere gratitude to the nurses and doctors who cared for him with compassion and dignity, knowing this acknowledgment reflects exactly what he would have wanted.
Keith would be touched if donations were made in his honor to the Humane Society, a small way to continue his compassion and love for animals.
The GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, Inc., 117 Blackhawk Road Beaver Falls, PA 15010, was honored to care for Keith and his family during this most difficult time.

    Hello Briscoe family:
I was so sad to hear of Keith’s passing. He was the most amazing, inspiring editor I came across during my journalism career. Tough, focused and caring. He supported me when I succeeded and encouraged me when I failed. Truly remarkable. Never had a boss and quite like Keith. I left for metro dailies in Long Beach and San Diego after Longmont. Wish I had maintained our relationship. I was best man at his wedding in Estes Park. He was far better to me than I was to him. But that’s Keith. I’ll treasure the good memories forever. Thanks for sharing him.
Julie, it’s been a long time. I hope you are celebrating his life. Keith was the best. I miss him and deeply regret I didn’t’t handle our relationship better.
    So fondly,
    Eric Parker

    Dear Briscoe Family,
Hearing of Keith’s passing is absolutely devestating. You have my deepest condolences. For 2 summers I worked with Keith in his green team. And they were great because he was there. He was reliable and so so kind. I’ll never forget getting a birthday card from him, I had never had a coworker do something so kind. And when I left to go back to school for the last summer, he sent me off with a heartfelt gift to remember him and the team by. And I do remember him, he made what could have been a tiring summer job a great deal of fun. I will always remember him fondly. He told me all about his family, he was so proud of his daughters. He really did touch so many lives. I’m proud to say that I knew him.
    Sincerely,
    Emily Miksch

    To Julie & family,
I met Keith at East Texas State University in Commerce, Tx. He was my German lab instructor and as time proved a genuine, true friend. A great friend! Even though we lost touch several years back I never forgot him. He was the one who instilled in me the love of hiking in west Texas, the love of the solitude and wonderful nature. When he would travel to Dallas to visit his Mom he would always contact me so we could catch up and trade stories. I will forever be grateful at having been able to call him my friend.
    With my deepest sympathies,
    Rocky Aceves
