Obituary

Kurt A. Grunert, 91, of Beaver, died peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2024, in the comfort of his home.

Born on September 27, 1933, in Beaver, he was the son of the late Albert and Irene (Schwartzenau) Grunert.

Graduating from Carnegie Institute of Technology with degrees in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, he had a long career with Westinghouse Corporation Electric Standard Control and the Low Voltage Breaker Division culminating with 55 patents and after retirement consulted for Eaton Corporation and Horton Corporation.  He was a United States Army Engineer Officer in the Reserves from 1955 to 1963, exiting at the rank of Captain.  ​​He was a part-time instructor at Geneva College for 56 years in the Engineering Department.  He was a longtime member of First Christian Church of Beaver and more recently attended the Assembly of God.

Kurt is survived by his lovely wife of 60 years, Edith “Edie” (Stitt) Grunert; children, Carl Phillip (Sarah Abigail Smoot) Grunert, Amy Louise (James M.) Shay, and Jordan Bryce (Lynsey) Grunert; grandchildren, Christian (Victoria) Shay, Brittany (Ryan) Brumbaugh, Claire Grunert, Gus Grunert, and Caylee Grunert; a great granddaughter, Chloe Shay; and numerous extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Kurt was preceded in death by his siblings, Walter Grunert and Irene Genevie.

Friends will be received on Thursday, November 21^st from 2PM until time of services at 4PM in the GABAUER-TODD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES (Branch), 340 Third Street, Beaver.

Private interment will be in Beaver Cemetery.
