Obituary

 

Madelyn H. Bardes, 96, of Chippewa Twp., passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 in Masonic Village of Sewickley. Her passing was not Covid-19 related.

Born June 24, 1924 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Zimmerman) Henry.  Madelyn was a member of the Chippewa Evangelical Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school teacher, choir member, deacon and nine years as the church secretary until retirement.  She was active in the community where she was a member of the Chippewa Women’s Club, volunteered with the Heritage Valley Women’s Auxiliary and worked in the Blackhawk High School cafeteria. She coordinated birthday cake preparation and assisted with birthday parties monthly at the Beaver Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight L. Bardes Jr.; and her sister, Elsie.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Lee Bardes, Robert H. Bardes, Shirley Anne (Louis) Bardes-Hasson, Doree Bardes and Mark Bardes; her grandson, Tyler Bardes; and a nephew, Paige Anderson.

Friends will be received on Sunday, September 13, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the Gabauer-Lutton Funeral Home- 117 Blackhawk Rd., Chippewa-www.gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com.  Madelyn will lie in state on Monday, September 14, from 10am until the time of services at 11am in the Chippewa United Presbyterian Evangelical Church- 530 Blackhawk. Rd., Beaver Falls.  Pastor Scott Graham will officiate.  In accordance with CDC guidelines, a maximum of 25 people will be permitted in the funeral home at one time, and masks are mandatory at the funeral home and the church.

Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Madelyn’s name to the Chippewa Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
