Obituary

Margaret Rose (Mutz) Begley passed away on December 8, 2023. She was born July 17, 1928, to the late Michael and Mary Kohanic Mutz who immigrated from Czechoslovakia. Proud of her heritage, she often referred to herself as a “Hunky” and marveled how her mother would use “every bit of a hog” when cooking for her large family. Margaret was a graduate of Ambridge High School, an employee of the Bell Telephone Company and a member of Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Beaver.

Margaret loved cooking shows; within the Pioneer Woman’s lodge and Trisha Yearwood’s kitchen, she was a welcome guest. An avid reader, Margaret would immerse herself in Stuart Woods’ stories of Stone Barrington and anything written by Janet Evanovich.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her dutiful husband of 69 years, Craig, and her most beloved son, Michael; four brothers, Joseph, Michael, Frank, and Anthony; six sisters, Veronica Modrack, Mary Botsko, Ann Nieman, Catherine Vlasic, Agnes Trunzo, and Frances Mehno. Surviving, are daughters Mary (Butch) Rousseau, Amy (Chris) Neil, grandchildren Jessica and Michael, great-granddaughter Tayven, sister Helen Piccirilli and numerous nieces, and nephews.

Our family will be forever grateful to the Cutlip family and neighbors for their caring nature and many acts of kindness.

Per Margaret’s request, there will be no visitation, service, nor formal burial. In lieu of gifts, the family requests donations be made to the Beaver Memorial Library, Beaver, or a charity of one’s choice.
