Marian Grace
(Zabotsky) Jasper
Jan 31, 1955 — Aug 13, 2023
Marian Grace (Zabotsky) Jasper, 68, of Chippewa Township, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at her home.
Born on January 31, 1955, in Youngstown, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anne (Kohut) Zabotsky.
Marian led a life full of adventure, from her early days in the Drum & Bugle Corps as the first woman to play lead tuba in the company, to her swashbuckling, sword-wielding days as a knight. She was renowned for the beautiful dolls and doll clothing she created, spending time chatting with Richard Simmons and Jim Henson at doll conventions, and clinking glasses with Harrison Ford. Her talent as a seamstress allowed her an opportunity to make clothing and dresses for royalty. Her creativity enveloped many areas. Marian had a knack for graphic design, was known to enjoy fencing, and was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism.
Marian had retired from the Department of Public Welfare as an Income Maintenance Case Worker. She was Orthodox by faith and very much enjoyed celebrating her heritage, cooking and baking Ukrainian delicacies for her family and friends to feast upon. Her humor and laughter were contagious; she could light up any room she entered, showing the world how to be good and kind. She will be remembered most for the love she poured out onto her family, whom she adored, including her husband, Charles E. Jasper, Jr. who preceded her in death on November 15th 2010.
Marian is survived by her son, Charles "CJ" (Skylyn Kopas) Jasper, who loved her dearly; brother-in-law and dear friend, Ken Jasper; and a brother, David Zabotsky, as well as many extended family members, and friends. Marian also boasted three furry grandpups: Lemmy, Leto, and Juno, for whom she made special treats.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart of Glass Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh.
