Obituary

Martha Joan (Hrotic) Presecan left this world to start her new life with The Lord, Jesus Christ our Savior on November 11, 2021, at her home in Beaver Falls, surrounded by her loving family. 

Martie was born on June 14th, 1938 in New Brighton, PA.  She was the oldest of four, graduated from New Brighton High School, and then met the love of her life, George Presecan.  She was married to him for 43 years before he preceded her in death in 1999.  Martie loved many things in life, and her greatest love was the Catholic Church.  She was a founding member of Christ the Divine Teacher Church (now Saint Monica) in Chippewa. She is a former president of the Christian Mothers organization and maintained a living rosary prayer chain for many years.  Martie loved to read books and play cards.  She was a member of her card club for decades.  She loved the theatre and had a membership to the Civic Light Opera for many years.  She was an avid Steeler fan so much so that Sunday meals were planned around the game.  Many who knew her well will remember her fabulous nutrolls. Flowers brightened her life every spring, and roses were always her favorite.  Martie was a lady of great compassion and generosity.  She was a strong woman who raised five children and was blessed with eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving children, Theresa and Tom McChesney and their children Katie and Bill, Mary Ann Presecan and her daughter Olivia, George M. Jr. and Lita Presecan and their children Michelle and George III, Ken Presecan, his wife Karima and their daughter Ayah, and Julie and Chris Mollica and their daughters Sami and Dani; two great-grandchildren, Harper and Brecken; her brother Mike Hrotic, his wife Mary, and their son Steven; her sister, Donna Hertzler, her husband Carl and their sons Mike and Brian; her niece Lisa Botka; and her nephews Joe and Marty Bittner.

In addition to her husband George, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Marie Bittner.

Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm in the Gabauer-Lutton Funeral Home- 117 Blackhawk Rd., ChippewaTwp.  A rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Monday at 7:30pm.  All are invited to attend Martie’s mass of Christian burial on Tuesday at 10am at St. Monica’s Catholic Church.  Fr. Kim Schreck will officiate.

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
