Obituary

Mary Ann Tarpey, 89, of Sewickley, formerly of Chippewa Twp., passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021 in Masonic Village of Sewickley.

Born December 2, 1932, she was the daughter of the late John and Barbara (Habrle) Matasick.  Mary Ann was a supervisor at the PA Railroad until her retirement. She was a member of St. Monica’s Roman Catholic Church, where she was one of the founders of the prayer shawl ministry.  Mary Ann loved music and doing crafts.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Patrick Tarpey; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Matasick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Donald Matasick; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Matasick.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday from 8:30am until the time of prayers at 9:30am in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, INC-117 Blackhawk Rd., Chippewa Twp.-www.gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com followed by as mass of Christian burial at 10am at St. Monica’s Roman Catholic Church. Fr. Kim Schreck will officiate.

Private inurnment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that contributions be made in Mary Ann’s name to the St. Monica’s Parish Share. Make check payable to St. Monica’s, and in the memo line indicate “Parish Share”. Mail check to: 116 Thorndale Dr., Beaver Falls PA 15010.

  1. Ill always remember our family get to-gethers when you and Uncle Jim lived in Westown. So many nice holidays at your home. You always made it so nice.

  2. She was a wonderful woman and she was always so very good to our family. She was endlessly thoughtful and gracious. She lived a life of service to her church and community. Aunt Mary Ann you were admired and will always be remembered in our hearts.
