Obituary

Mary Kathryn (Runyon) Boyd, formerly of Center Township, Beaver County, passed away Wednesday June 5 at Kobacker House Hospice in Columbus, OH. She was born in Coraopolis, PA and was the daughter of the late Walter and Katherine (Lentz) Runyon. She graduated from Moon Township High School and married the late Eugene N. Boyd of Coraopolis in Cumberland, MD following WWII.

Mary is survived by her son, Dana E. Boyd and wife Colleen, State College, PA, a daughter, Cynthia L. Grever and husband Michael, Powell, OH, 3 grandchildren, Mary Kay Irwin and husband Jason, Jeffrey Grever and wife Gail and Molly DeStefanis and husband Geno, 5 great-grandchildren, Andrew Irwin, Caroline Irwin, Emma Grever, Henry Grever and Jack DeStefanis and a sister June Lubinski. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Walter, James, John and Ernest “”Dan”” Runyon and an infant sister May Runyon.

She had worked at the former Kaufmann’s Department Store in Rochester, but her greatest occupation was that of loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed bingo and the occasional trip to River’s Casino and she left her family with lasting memories of her wonderful home cooking, love of crocheting and her delicious Christmas cookies. Mary was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, Center Township.

Friends were received Sunday 2:30 to 7 PM in the Todd Funeral Home, 340 Third Street, Beaver where a funeral service was conducted Monday at 10 AM by Father Mariusz Mularczyk of St. Francis Cabrini, Interment followed in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Research Fund at the St. James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, payable to OSU Foundation Fund #310260 at PO 183112 Columbus, OH 43218-3112.
